The Foot in Diabetes

Episode 3 · 10 July 2026

Charcot Foot

If you have diabetes and nerve damage, a foot that suddenly becomes hot, swollen and red can be serious even when it barely hurts. It is called Charcot foot, and the bones can change shape quickly if you keep walking on it. This episode explains what to look for, why it is so often mistaken for an infection or a sprain, and why getting it checked within days rather than weeks protects the foot.
